Simple Steps to Success
In this blog, we will discuss the Simple Steps to success.
Congratulations! To all new graduate students.
You may be young or old, you are full of energy and you have dreams. You may be in high school, going to college, or in different levels of your career, one question which lurks around everyone’s mind is how to achieve success in their lives.
Remember what you think and do now will make a huge difference in the rate at which you achieve success.
With new graduates gearing towards the college and workforce, here are some of my suggestions from my own experience.
No competition
Don’t compete with others because your competition should always be with yourself. Life is a beautiful journey and all it gives is an opportunity to experience it. So, experience things in your own way and at your own pace. Just try to be better than what you were yesterday.
Plan
Always understand what you want to do in the future in your life. Subsequently, you can prepare for it from now.
Keep this in mind – what you do today will reap benefits in the future. When you see a tree with fruits, remember – it has grown from a seed which was sown many years earlier.
Have short-term and long-term goals
Always try to contemplate what your future plans will be.
Quite often, when someone asks our 5-year or 10-year plans, we laugh at the fruitlessness of the question. In fact, it is rather wise to have long term and short-term plans. These plans may change as you move forward, but if there is no plan at all, you will not know in which direction to move. Moreover, you will have no clue about your shortcomings.
Revisit your plans
Write down your short-term and long-term goals and keep revisiting them so that you don’t lose focus.
Have a direction
Always have a direction and purpose in life. Know what you want to attain in your life, early on. Only if your goal is clear, you can work towards it wholeheartedly in the right direction.
Take a long-term view
When you work on something, always work with a long-term goal in mind. For example, If you are in college and you take finance, you should not work just for the purpose of achieving good grades in your exams. Of course, you need to get good grades any way, but you should aim for what you are going to do with it after college. It will take the same amount of effort as it will take to get an A grade in exams.
Take up your passion
Try to understand what you like to do and then decide to take it up as your career.
People always struggle on deciding on what they want. I have seen Students always complaining that they don’t know “what they want.”
It is easy to know what you actually want but you have to spend time on it. We spend time in discussing what food to eat, which restaurant to go, which movie to watch. Spend some amount of time in your career discussion too.
Discuss with your family and friends and understand yourself.
Even if you are not sure, make one choice and start working on it. Soon things will get clear.

Wish you all a happy future.
